# Content Podcasts

**Content Podcasts** turn any eligible piece of content into audio – a multi-speaker podcast, a single-speaker podcast, or a straight text-to-speech read-through. It’s built automatically from the content itself, with no studio or scriptwriter required. Learners get a version of your content they can listen to on the commute, on the shop floor, or wherever reading isn’t practical.

## Audio Formats

Three formats are available for the same content item:

- **Podcast (multi-speaker)**: A two-voice, conversational discussion of the content
- **Podcast (single-speaker)**: A single-voice, straight-to-the-point summary
- **Text to speech**: A plain text-to-speech reading of the content as written

## Enabling Content Podcasts

An admin turns Content Podcasts on once for the whole tenant; after that, every eligible mixed content item becomes available for audio generation.

1. In the Thrive menu, go to **Configure** > **AI features**.
2. In the **Content Creator** section, enable **Audio Generation**.
3. Choose who can generate audio from the dropdown:
  - **Everyone**: Every user on your Thrive platform
  - **Admins only**: Just your admins
  - **Specific audience(s)**: Use the **Search audiences** box to find and select one or more existing audiences.

Audio generation is now enabled for the user types you chose.

## Generating Audio for a Content Item

1. Open an eligible content item.
2. Select the audio option, then choose **Podcast (multi-speaker)**, **Podcast (single-speaker)**, or **Text to speech**.

If you’re the first person to request that format for this item, the button shows **Generating...** while Thrive builds a script from the content and produces the audio. Everyone after you gets the same audio instantly, with no wait and no repeat generation.

Once it’s ready, click **Listen** to open the player. The player stays open as a mini player, so you can keep listening while you move around the platform.

## Current Limitations

- Available on **desktop only** at launch. Mobile app support is planned for a later release.
- Works only with content items that have text content. SCORM packages and video transcripts aren't supported yet.
- Language and speaker voice can't be chosen.
