# Create a Job role

Each role sets out who belongs to it and which skills it requires, along with the expected level for each skill. Members of a role automatically receive those skills on their profile, with a Target level that matches the role’s expected level. Only Super Admins can create and manage roles.

1. In the Thrive menu, go to **Manage** > **Job roles**.
2. Click **Create job role**.
3. Enter a **Name** for the role. Role names must be unique across your platform.
4. Enter a **Description** of up to 1,000 characters.
5. Add **Translations** if needed.
6. Click **Create job role** to save.
