An Audience always belongs to a Structure, so you can’t create one on its own. Create your Structure first, then create the Audiences that sit inside it. To create a Structure and an Audience, in the Thrive menu, go to **Manage** > **Structures & Audiences**. ## Create a Structure 1. On the **Structures** screen, click **+ Create a new structure**. 2. Under **Structure details**, enter a **Structure name**. 3. Under **Content visibility & sharing**: - Choose who can share content in this Structure – **Everyone**, **Admins**, or **Only members**. > [!NOTE] > Note: > > Structure admins with the Manage Content permission can always share, regardless of this setting. - Choose a **Default content privacy** for this Structure – **Public** or **Private**. Content authors can override this for individual pieces of content. 4. Under **Membership options**, define the Structure’s members: - **Everyone**: Includes all users. You can still create Audiences within the Structure for specific groups. - **Rule based membership**: Includes only users who match the rules you define. See Add Membership Rules. 5. Click **Review structure**. 6. Check the Structure details, then click **Publish structure**. Your Structure is now live and appears on the **All structures** table. You can now [add Audiences to it](/v1/docs/create-a-structure#create-an-audience), delegate its management, and track its members and assignments. ## Create an Audience 1. On the **All structures** table, click the Structure you want to create an Audience in. 2. On the **Audiences** tab, click **+ Create audience**. 3. Under **Audience details**, enter an **Audience name**. 4. Under **Content visibility & sharing**: - Choose who can share content in this Audience – **Everyone**, **Admins**, or **Only members**. > [!NOTE] > Note: > > Structure admins with the Manage Content permission can always share, regardless of this setting. - Choose a **Default content privacy** for this audience – **Public** or **Private**. Content authors can override this for individual pieces of content. 5. Under **Audience Type**, choose how members are added to the Audience: - **Manual Audience**: Manually add members. - **Smart Audience**: Members will be dynamically added based on predefined rules. 6. Click **Review audience**. 7. Check the Audience details, then click **Create audience**. Your Audience is created and added to the Structure. It appears on the **All structures** table under the associated Structure.
