# Rewards

**Rewards** recognise learners for specific activities in Thrive, through custom badges you create and manage yourself. Only admins can turn on Custom Badging and create custom badges, since it changes how gamification works across your whole platform.

## **Custom Badges vs Standard Badges**

Thrive includes a set of standard badges that are awarded automatically for general platform activity, such as logging in, posting content, or following other users. Custom Badging replaces these with badges you create yourself, tailored to the activities and content that matter most to your organisation. You can use either the standard badges or custom badges, not both at the same time.
