# Notification Settings

**Notifications** are automated messages sent by Thrive to keep you informed about important platform activity and events. **User preferences** are the settings that allow you to control which of these messages you receive and how often.

The table below outlines the full range of notifications sent across Thrive, categorising them by the specific action that triggers the alert. For each notification, the **Email (Default)** and **Mobile (Default)** columns show whether that notification is switched on or off by default. You can change your own Email and Mobile settings at any time, unless a column is marked as not applicable.

> If assigned content is incomplete, learners will receive automated notifications 14, 7, and 1 day before the due date, on the due day, and again 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after the due date.

## Account

This category covers notifications about changes to your admin permissions or settings, such as when your access level is updated.

## Content

This category covers notifications when someone interacts with content you've posted, such as leaving a comment on it or sharing it with you.

## Events and Campaigns

This category covers invitations to events, updates about events you're attending, and new campaigns launched on the platform.

## Follows and Messages

This category covers notifications when someone starts following you or sends you a direct message.

## Learning and Achievements

This category covers notifications about your learning activity, including new assignments, skill level increases, badges earned, submissions awaiting approval, and goal updates.

To disable assignment notifications platform-wide temporarily (for example, while reassigning content) contact Support. Include the dates and times you'd like notifications turned off and back on. Default toggle positions cannot be changed directly through the platform settings.

## Spaces

This category covers notifications from Spaces, including new posts, replies, mentions, likes, and updates about your mentoring relationships.

## System Notifications

This category covers automatic notifications generated by the system itself, such as account verification codes and completed admin tasks. These don't appear in your personal notification settings, and – unlike the categories above – can't be turned off individually.

System notifications can only be turned off if all notifications are turned off using the 'Enable notifications' option. This toggle will turn off all notifications, regardless of individual settings.
