Hub Templates

Prev Next

Hub templates define the widgets a user sees the first time they access their Hub. You can set a template as the default for everyone, or assign it to specific audiences so different groups land on a Hub built for their role.

Templates apply as follows:

  • Default template: Applied to all users.

  • Audience template: Applied to users in that audience, in addition to the default.

Users in more than one audience receive the combined set of widgets from every template they match. Widgets are de-duplicated automatically on first access.

Templates impact the first load of Hub for a user only, once changes have been made to the template, the users hub will not be updated.

Creating a Hub Template

  1. Go to Configure > Hub and click the Hub Templates tab.

  2. Click + Create Template.

  3. Enter a Name and an optional Description.

  4. Click Create.

The template opens on the Widgets tab, ready for you to add widgets.

Adding Widgets to a Template

  1. On the template’s Widgets tab, click + Add Widget.

  2. Browse or search the widget library. Use the category filters to narrow the list.

  3. Add one or more widgets you want to include.

Note:

Only widgets enabled in the Widgets section of Hub Configuration are available to add to a template.

Assigning Audiences

Assign a template to one or multiple audiences to control who receives it.

  1. On the template, click the Audiences tab.

  2. Click + Add Audiences.

  3. Search for and select the audiences you want to assign.

  4. Click Add to Template.

Audience membership determines which template a user receives, so well-structured audiences give users a more relevant Hub.

Publishing and Managing Templates

The Hub Templates list shows each template's title, audiences, author, published date, last updated date, widget count, and status. Use the ... menu on any template to:

  • Edit: Change the template's widgets, audiences, or settings.

    Note:

While editing a template, click Save as Draft to keep your changes without applying them, or Publish Template to make the template live for the users it applies to.

  • Delete: Remove the template permanently.

You can also edit a template's name and description, or delete it, from the Settings tab.
