The Thrive MCP Server is an intelligent bridge between AI assistants and your Thrive platform. Instead of clicking through admin screens, you (and your learners) can manage content, skills, and users – and find the right learning – through natural conversation.
Works With Your AI Tools
The server speaks the open Model Context Protocol (MCP), so it works with any MCP-compatible AI tool. We provide step-by-step setup guides for:
Claude – on the web (claude.ai), the desktop app, and Claude Code
Microsoft Copilot – as a custom connector/agent in Copilot Studio
Gemini Enterprise – as an MCP data source in your agent configuration
Note:
Other MCP-capable tools can connect using the same MCP Server URL, Client ID, and Client Secret. See Setting up the Thrive MCP Server for more details.
What You Can Do
Manage Learning Content
Create new learning materials with rich mixed media – text blocks, images, videos, audio, documents, quizzes, assessments, embeds, and more
Update existing content, including titles, descriptions, and individual components
Publish finished content or delete drafts
Build and manage wiki/space pages and posts, with control over layout
Search across your content library
Skills and Tags
Search the skills taxonomy
View and manage tags (skills, interests, topics) – your own, or, with the right permissions, those of other users
Add or remove tags individually or in bulk
Create new tags, and delete tags you no longer need
Generate AI-suggested tags for your content to improve discoverability
Adjust user skill levels and targets
Check tag permissions
People and Engagement
See the badges and achievements you've earned – or, with the right permissions, those of other users
Track learning assignments and progress – your own, or other users' if your permissions allow
Look up audiences (groups)
Endorse content to signal quality and relevance to your learners
Like posts on behalf of the signed-in user
Built for Learners Too
It isn't only for admins. Your learners can ask their AI assistant to find the right course, surface content matched to their skills and goals, or tap into the knowledge in your portal – all in plain language. The server reasons about what's relevant to each person: their current skill levels, their goals, their assignments, and what they've already achieved.
Secure Sign-In
Connecting is a one-time setup per tool, carried out by an administrator. When you first connect, a simple browser-based login authenticates you securely using your existing Thrive credentials. The AI tool never sees your password – it only receives a secure token after you've logged in, and access can be revoked at any time.
