Events are structured sessions, either in-person or virtual, that users can register for and attend as part of their learning and development journey. Events can range from workshops and classroom-based training to webinars and virtual conferences. This page will outline the process and features involved in creating, scheduling, and managing an event in Thrive.

Creating an Event

  1. In the Thrive menu, go to Create > Other Content Types > Event.

  2. In Title of your event, enter title for your event.

  3. Click ADD NEW EVENT.

  4. (Optional) Change the thumbnail as needed.

  5. In Summary, provide a brief description of the event.

  6. To control how users sign up for the event:

    • If you want users to manually sign up, toggle Self Registration Enabled to NO.

    • If only the event organiser or admin should be able to add users to the event, leave it set to YES.

  7. To control whether users can cancel their attendance within a specific timeframe:

    • To allow users to cancel within a defined period, toggle Set a cancellation period to YES.

    • To remove any time restrictions on cancellations, toggle Set a cancellation period to NO.

  8. If you selected YES, under Select how many days before the event the attendee can cancel, enter the number of days or choose from one of the Suggestions below.

  9. In Occurrence details, enter the following information:

    • Spaces available: Set the attendance limit. Leave blank for unlimited sign-ups.

    • Timezone: Select the time zone for where the event will take place.

    • Label: Enter the name of the city or building where the event will be held.

    • Host: Choose the event host from the list of users.

  10. In Session details, choose how the event will be hosted:

    • For a physical location: Leave the toggle off and enter the address in Enter address here.

    • For an online event: Set the toggle on and enter the event link in Paste the launch URL here.

  11. Enter the following information:

    • Date: Select the date of the event.

    • Start Time: Enter the event’s start time.

    • End Time: Enter the event’s end time.

  12. If the event spans multiple days, click add another session and add the same details (Date, Start Time, End Time, etc.) as described above.

    Note:

    Any users signing up for the event will need to attend all listed dates to complete the event.

  13. (Optional) Add skills and topics:

    1. To associate the content with specific skills, select them from the Choose skills dropdown or choose from the suggestions.
    2. To categorise the content, add tags using the Choose topics dropdown or select from the suggestions.
  14. (Optional) Control visibility and sharing:

    1. To restrict visibility, under Share with people, search for users or groups and select Only visible to the members shared with.
    2. To prevent users from sharing, deselect Allow resharing.
  15. (Optional) Notify users when they receive the link:

    1. Toggle Notify to YES.
    2. Enter a message in the text box.
  16. (Optional) Configure Advanced settings:

    • Duration: Set a completion time limit in hours (h) and minutes (m).

    • Disable Comments: Toggle this on to prevent learners from commenting on the content.

    • Skill boosting: If this feature is enabled and you want to boost a skill on completion, toggle it on, and then select the skill, level, and completion requirements.

  17. Click Post.

The event is created and shared. If notifications were enabled, users will be notified. To make changes, click EDIT.

Signing up to an Event

When spaces are available, users can sign up for an event in a few ways:

  • Self-registration: Users can sign themselves up by clicking Sign Up on the event occurrence.

  • Manager enrolment: Managers can enrol their direct reports by clicking Enrol Team and selecting the relevant team member(s).

  • Event creator enrolment: Event creators can add users through the event's management settings.

If an event is fully booked, users can click JOIN WAITLIST to be added to the waiting list. Users will be notified when a space becomes available.
