A
Achievement A milestone-based reward earned by completing learning activity. Achievements are part of Thrive's legacy gamification system, with pre-set milestones and levels. Not all tenants use Achievements – some use Badges instead. See also: Badge.
Adaptive Pathway A type of Pathway that adjusts to a learner's existing knowledge. Learners may take a pre-assessment that skips them past sections they've already mastered. Adaptive Pathways support section restrictions and skill boosts on completion. See also: Pathway.
Admin The highest platform role. Admins have unrestricted access to all features, settings, users, content, and reporting across the platform. See also: Learner Admin.
Assigned Learning Content that has been formally assigned to a learner, typically with a due date. Assigned Learning appears on the learner's Learn screen under Overview. Overdue items are flagged with a badge count in the navigation.
Audience A group of users used to control content sharing, assignments, and permissions. There are two types: Manual Audience and Smart Audience.
Audience Manager A permission (not a platform role) granted to a user to manage a specific audience. Audience Managers can be given one or more of the following permissions: manage content, manage members, manage users, create assignments, and view insights for that audience.
Auto-Curation An automated content import feature. Admins configure jobs that pull content from external providers (such as LinkedIn Learning) on a schedule. Each job can be filtered, tagged, and set to share content automatically on import.
B
Badge A custom reward created by an organisation to recognise learning milestones. Badges have custom images and criteria defined by admins. Tenants choose either Badges or Achievements as their gamification system – not both. See also: Achievement.
Broadcast A content type used to share announcements or video messages across the platform.
C
Campaign A time-bound promotional feature used to surface content or messages to specific audiences. Campaigns can display a banner on the home feed and include scheduled content releases. Admins manage Campaigns from the Manage section.
Chat One of Kiki's four modes. In Chat mode, Kiki acts as a general conversational assistant. See also: Kiki.
Collection A grouping of Skills or Topics used to organise the tag taxonomy. Collections help structure how tags appear during onboarding, content tagging, and search. Admins can designate primary and secondary Collections.
CPD (Continuing Professional Development) A formal tracking system for professional learning hours. CPD Categories define types of development activity, and CPD Requirements set audience-specific hour targets. CPD tracking is available on the Learn screen when enabled by an organisation.
E
Endorsed Content Content or tags officially verified or recommended by the organisation. Endorsed items are marked with a distinct indicator and are treated as authoritative within the platform.
Explore A platform screen where learners can browse and discover all content available to them, including content not surfaced through recommendations.
G
Goal A structured objective a learner works towards, made up of one or more Tasks. Goals can be personal (created by the learner) or assigned (set by a manager or admin). Tasks within a Goal can be manual or linked to specific content. Goals can require evidence and manager approval on completion.
H
Home The main feed-based screen learners land on after signing in. Home surfaces content recommendations, campaigns, and activity from across the platform.
Hub A widget-based dashboard screen that learners and admins can configure with integrations and tools – such as calendars, tasks, and links. Organisations can set the Hub as the default landing screen instead of Home.
K
Kiki Thrive's AI assistant. Kiki has four modes: Chat (general conversation), Coach (guided coaching using structured frameworks), Analyst, and Roleplay (practice scenarios). Available modes are configured per organisation.
L
Learn A screen on the Thrive platform that gives each learner a personalised view of their learning activity. The Learn screen can include: Overview (Assigned Learning), Goals, Skills, CPD, Badges or Achievements, Events, and Certification – depending on what an organisation has enabled.
Learner The base user role. Learners have access to learning content, the Home and Hub screens, Explore, Spaces, Events, Goals, Skills tracking, and Rewards.
Learner Admin A hybrid role with both learner and administrative capabilities. Learner Admins can create and manage content, manage audiences, manage tags (Skills, Topics, Collections), and manage Campaigns.
M
Manager A learner with direct reports in the organisational hierarchy. Managers can view their team members' Learn screens, manage team Goals, and access team-focused Insights. Manager is a relationship-based designation, not a separate platform role.
Manual Audience An audience where members are explicitly added or removed by an admin. See also: Smart Audience.
Mentor A user who provides guidance to a Mentee through a Mentoring programme. Both roles are selected by users when joining a programme. See also: Mentee, Mentoring Programme.

Modal An overlay that appears over the current screen and blocks interaction with everything behind it until the user responds or dismisses it.
O
Onboarding A configurable set of steps shown to new users when they first sign in to Thrive. Onboarding steps can include profile setup, selecting Skills and interests, accepting terms, watching a welcome video, and setting a locale preference.
P
Pathway A curated sequence of learning content items organised by an author. Learners work through a Pathway's content in a defined order. See also: Adaptive Pathway.
R
Roleplay One of Kiki’s four modes. In Roleplay mode, learners can practise real-world scenarios – either authored by an admin or described by the learner themselves. See also: Kiki.
S

Smart Audience An audience where membership is automatically calculated using rule-based criteria, such as job position, profile fields, email domain, or management relationships. See also: Manual Audience.

Space Admin A per-Space role (not a platform role) granting a user administrative control over a specific Space. Space Admins can manage members, content, and moderate posts within their Space.
T
