Uploading a file in Thrive lets you share documents, presentations, and other learning materials directly in the platform. This keeps resources organised and easily accessible for learners.

Uploading Files

  1. In the Thrive menu, go to Create, scroll down to Structured Content Types, and click File.

  2. Drag and drop your file to the Upload File area or click in the area to locate and upload a file from your computer.

  3. Click Upload.
    Thrive will automatically generate a title from the filename. Review the title to ensure it’s accurate.

  4. (Optional) Change the thumbnail as needed.

  5. Provide a Summary to give a brief description of the file, highlighting key information and its relevance to learners.

  6. (Optional) To prevent users from downloading the file, toggle Downloadable to NO. This ensures the file can only be viewed in Thrive.

  7. (Optional) Add Skills and topics:

    1. To associate the content with specific skills, select them from the Choose skills dropdown or choose from the suggestions.
    2. To categorise the content, add tags using the Choose topics dropdown or select from the suggestions.
  8. (Optional) Control visibility and sharing:

    1. To restrict visibility, under Share with people, search for users or groups and select Only visible to the members shared with.
    2. To prevent users from sharing, deselect Allow resharing.
  9. (Optional) Notify users when they receive the link:

    1. Toggle Notify to YES.
    2. Enter a message in the text box.
  10. (Optional) Configure Advanced settings:

    • Duration: Set a completion time limit in hours (h) and minutes (m).

    • Disable Comments: Toggle this on to prevent learners from commenting on the content.

    • Skill boosting: If this feature is enabled and you want to boost a skill on completion, toggle it on, and then select the skill, level, and completion requirements.

  11. Click Post.

The file is now uploaded to Thrive. If you enabled notifications, users will be notified. To make changes later, click EDIT.

Managing Visibility and Sharing

Once your content is published, you can update its visibility and sharing settings at any time. From the published content item, click Visibility & Share (👁) in the action bar to open the following controls:

  • Who can view this content?: Select Limited Access to restrict the content to specific groups or users, or Public to make it visible to everyone.

  • Add to user's recommended content (Optional): Search for users or audiences to surface this content in their recommendations.

  • Sharing options: Choose Allow sharing to let anyone with access share the content, or Restrict sharing to limit sharing to admins and authors only.

Click Save to apply your changes.
