Job roles let you build your organisation's competency framework directly in Thrive. For each role, you decide who belongs to it and which skills it requires, along with the expected proficiency level for each skill. Members of a Job role automatically receive those skills on their profile, with a Target level that matches the role's expected level.
Roles use your existing skills taxonomy and the skill levels set up in Configure > Skills. For more information, see Skills.
Note:
Only Super Admins can create and manage Roles. Learners don't see roles yet – they see the Skills and Target levels a role assigns to them.
How Roles Work
Members: You add people to a role by attaching one or more groups. Groups can use audience rules – for example, Job title is any of – so people are matched to roles automatically.
Competencies: You add the skills the role requires and set an expected level for each on your platform's skill level scale.
Target levels: A role's expected level becomes the learner's Target level for that skill.
Current levels: Joining a role never sets or changes a learner's current level. This still comes from content completion, or from a manager, or self rating.
Roles and audiences: If the same skill is assigned through both a role and an audience, the highest Target level applies.
Add Skills to a Role
Open the role and click the Competencies tab.
Click Add skill and search for a skill from your skills taxonomy.

To remove a skill, click [...] next to it and select Remove.

Group rules run in the background, so changes can take up to 24 hours to appear. The Members tab shows a message while this is in progress.
To change who is in a group, edit the group itself rather than the role.
