Tags are labels used to categorise content in {{variable.Company Name}}, helping improve discovery and personalised recommendations. They make it easier for users to search, filter, and navigate to the {{glossary.Content}} that matters most to them.

Example Usage

Tags are especially important on the Explore page, where your primary tags are displayed on the front page. This allows you to organise content clearly and guide users toward key topics or themes.

For example, clicking a primary tag like AIR PODS:

Displays its associated subcategory or secondary tag:

You’ll now see all content tagged with both AIR PODS (primary tag) and Apple Products (secondary tag):

Tags applied to content are visible as labels, making it easy for users to identify related material.

Using Tags for New User Setup

Tags also play an important role during a new user’s profile setup. When users first create their profile, they’re asked to select at least three Skills and Topics:

Skills: Areas the user wants to develop
Topics: Subjects the user is interested in

Users can add more skills at any time by clicking the Add Skill button on their Learn profile.

Using Tags in Homepage Blocks

Tags influence the content shown on the homepage, particularly in dynamic blocks like Recommended. This block displays content that matches the skills listed in a user’s profile, helping ensure recommendations are tailored to their interests and learning goals.

Managing Tags

As an admin, you can manage tags by going to Manage > Tags on the {{variable.Company Name}} menu.

This section shows all tags created on your platform, along with details such as:

Tag type (skill or topic)
Whether the tag is endorsed
Number of users who have added it to their profile
Number of content items associated with the tag

To create a new tag, click Create Tag.

When creating a tag, you can:

Name the tag
Choose whether it’s a Skill or Topic
Endorse the tag if applicable
Add translations for multilingual platforms
Assign the tag to a level 1 or level 2 collection using the dropdown menu
Upload a thumbnail image (used on the Explore page)
