Skills allow learners to track their progress and development in specific skills. Super Admins can configure skill levels, set permissions for who can update them, and control how they appear to other users across the platform.

Configuring Skill Levels

  1. On the Thrive menu, go to Configure > Skills.
Configuration settings for skill levels and user permissions in the Thrive platform.

  2. Toggle Enabled on.
Settings for skill levels with options for managers and users to adjust levels.

  3. Under Skill levels, enable the following options as needed:

    Option

    Description

Allow managers to set skill level

Allows managers to set a user's current skill level.

Allow users to set own skill level

Allows users to set their own current skill level. (Requires Allow managers to set skill level to be enabled.)

Allow managers to set desired skill level

Allows managers to set a user's desired skill level.

Allow users to set desired skill level

Allows users to set their own desired skill level as a personal development goal. (Requires Allow managers to set desired skill level to be enabled.)

Allow learners to hide skill level

Allows users to hide their skill levels from other users across Thrive. When hidden, other users will see skill names only. Super Admins retain full visibility at all times.

  4. In Number of Levels, set up to 10 skill levels for users to progress through. Click Add Level to add a new level, or click X to remove one. You can rename levels at any time. By default, the levels are Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

  5. Click Save.

Skill levels are now configured. Users can set a current and desired skill level for any skill on their profile and progress by completing content configured to boost that skill.

Note:

Depending on the permissions you've enabled, users or their managers can also update skill levels manually.
