Create a Space

Only Super Admins can create a Space, though they can designate any user as an administrator or editor of one once it exists – for example, nominating a subject-matter expert to manage its content.

Create Your Space

  1. In the Thrive menu, go to Manage > Spaces.

  2. Click + Create new Space.

  3. Under Basic Information:

    1. Give the Space a Name and a Description.

    2. (Optional) To add a Thumbnail, which appears on the Space’s card, click Choose file and upload an image.

Basic Information form showing Thrive Help name, description, thumbnail upload, and Next button.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Under Discovery, choose a visibility option:

    • Public: The Space is available for all users to view.

    • Private: The Space is only available to users you add manually.

  6. Click Create space.

You’ll land on the design screen for your new Space.

Thrive Help page builder displays options to add social feed, image, text, link, columns, or PDF blocks.

Build Your Space

The Page builder provides several dynamic blocks to help you structure your Space. Each block can be customised to offer a personalised, interactive experience for your learners.

Block

Capabilities and Customisation

Social Feed

Embed a live feed into your page to encourage peer-to-peer discussion and community engagement in the Space.

Image

You can Upload your own files or Create with AI to generate unique visuals.

Text

Select Add text to manually enter content or Write with AI to quickly generate descriptions or headers for your page.

Link

You can add an External Link to any URL or use Content Link to search for and link directly to existing platform content.

Note:

Link preview appearance is controlled by the external site, not Thrive. If a preview doesn't appear as expected, this is likely due to the source site's privacy settings or how it handles link requests.

Columns

Organise your page layout by adding multiple columns. You can nest other blocks – like images, text, or links – within these columns to create structured side-by-side content.

PDF

Upload documents directly for learners to view. A Downloadable toggle allows you to control whether users can save the file to their local device.

Audio

Upload an audio file for learners to play directly on the page.

File

Upload a file for learners to download – supports PDF, Audio, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, ZIP, 7Z, and Keynote files, up to 1 GB.

Video

Videos can be added by Upload, embedding from YouTube, or using Create with AI. When generating with AI, you can describe a scene, specify exclusions, and choose between Landscape (16:9) or Portrait (9:16) orientations.

HTML

Add a custom HTML block to embed your own markup for layouts and branding beyond the standard blocks. Select HTML, then paste or write your code in the Enter HTML content here field.

Important:

Thrive strips JavaScript from an HTML block, but doesn't otherwise validate your cide. We can't guarantee how it will display in your Thrive platform, so preview and test it thoroughly before publishing. For more information, see Custom HTML Blocks.

Mentorship Programme

Add a structured Mentorship Programme to your Space. Users can join as a mentor to share their expertise, a mentee to develop new skills, or both. Thrive matches participants based on their skills and defined matching rules, so every connection feels purposeful.

Content Carousel

A dynamic block that surfaces content tailored to each user. Admins can filter by Skills and tags, Content type, and Language. It automatically displays the most recent items, and you can toggle settings to Hide completed content or Show only endorsed content.

Admins can also configure the Source rule to restrict suggestions to specific content providers. This multi-select list enables you to choose content created natively in Thrive or items from third-party integrations, such as LinkedIn auto-curation.

Note:

Only one Carousel is allowed per page, and it will automatically hide if no matching content is found for a specific learner.

Sub pages

Add a block linking learners to the page’s subpages. For more information, see Subpages.

Embed

Enables the integration of external web pages, dashboards, and interactive tools directly in a page using an iframe.

Note:

Not all websites support iframe embedding. Sites with restrictive security policies may fail to load and will show an error instead.

Flipcard

Add a two-sided card with a question on one side and the answer on the other, which learners click to flip between.

Magic

Generate an interactive experience from a prompt. Select the type you want – Quiz, Flashcards, Sorting game, Scenario, or Timeline – describe your topic, then click Generate. You can refine the result with follow-up prompts, or edit the generated code directly. For more information, see Magic Blocks.

Finalise and Publish Your Space

  1. Use the following tabs as needed to finalise your Space:

    • Members: Manually add specific users or groups to access the Space.

    • Settings: Edit any of the information you provided earlier, or delete the Space if necessary.

  2. Click the dropdown arrow next to Save draft and select Publish.

The Space is now live and appears in the Spaces list.

Note:

To make further changes to a published Space, manage its members and settings, or – for a Space with a Mentorship Programme block – oversee mentoring, coaching, or sponsorship relationships and moderation, see Managing a Space
