Summary

The Engagement page provides leaders with an overview of activity within the platform over the last 30 complete days, based on users within their audience(s).

It highlights total content interactions (views, likes, comments, shares), learning time, how users access content, which topics are trending, and activity patterns across the week.

Visuals have a maximum lag of 6 hours, typically significantly less.


Filters

Use the filters at the top of the page to refine the dataset:

  • Structure Name / Audience Name / Position Title / Manager Name — isolate engagement for specific teams, roles, or reporting managers

  • Thrive Role (learner, learneradmin) — platform super administrators are excluded by default

  • Thrive Status (active, new) — suspended users are excluded by default

  • Content Title / Content Type / Content Tag — drill into specific learning items or categories

  • Activity Date — this page is pre-filtered to the last 30 complete days for performance

  • Additional Field Key (Custom Field) — select segmentation fields like Region, Department, or Brand

    • Additional Field Value — choose a specific value (e.g., Region → North East)

  • by Average Viewed Duration / Group by Manager Name — change the perspective of “Average Viewed Duration by Manager Name” visual

These filters help you analyse activity at any organisational level.

What You Need to Know

This panel explains how the dataset works and key behaviours to understand:

  • This report shows all platform activity within your selected audience(s)

  • To filter by custom fields, first select the Custom Field, then choose a Custom Field Value

  • Data is based on the Activity Date assigned to each interaction

  • Export frequency should be limited for performance


Top Tips

Helpful ways to get the most out of this page:

  • Use the dark grey ‘by Average Viewed Duration’ option to change the metric in certain visuals

  • Use the ‘What are the trending topics?’ chart to shape training, campaigns, or events around popular tags

  • Right-click visuals to isolate users or content types with high or low engagement


Total content views

Shows the total number of content views recorded within your activity date filter period (last 30 days by default).


Total likes

Displays the total number of likes recorded within the activity date filter period.


Total comments

Shows the total number of comments made on content in the activity date filter period.


Total shares

Shows the total number of content shares recorded in the activity date filter period.


Total time spent learning

Displays the total number of minutes your users spent learning within the activity date filter period.


Average time spent learning per user

Shows the average number of minutes spent learning per user per activity during the activity period.

For example -

If I view the same content 5 times

1 - 10 minutes

2 - 1 minute

3 - 5 minutes

4 - 8 minutes

5 - 10 minutes

I've clocked 34 minutes total for an average of just under 7 minutes, the average I put forward as a user is 6.8 minutes not 34 minutes


How are users consuming their learning?

This visual shows how learning is consumed by Activity Origin (e.g., web vs mobile app).

How to use this visual:

  • Identify your users' preferred access method

  • Look for low mobile engagement, if mobile learning is strategically important


Average Viewed Duration by Manager Name

Displays the activity source (notification, campaign, feed, search, pinned, learn).

  • See which discovery routes are performing best

  • Identify if a content discovery method is underperforming

  • Use insights to strengthen your communication strategy


What are the trending topics?

Shows the top content tags based on activity within your time range.

How to use this visual:

  • Identify trending topics amongst your audience(s)

  • Understand learner interest areas

  • Align training plans against popular tags to support learner development
