The Engagement tab gives leaders and managers a high-level view of learner engagement with content across their filtered audience – overall activity, how and where learners consume it, what's trending, and when the platform is busiest.

If you schedule exports from this tab, limit them to once daily at most, and run them outside peak hours of 07:00 to 19:00 UTC.
Filters
The Engagement tab includes the following filters:
Filter | Description |

Audience | Include or exclude one or more audiences. |
User | Include or exclude one or more specific users. |
Position title | Include or exclude one or more position titles. |
Manager | Include or exclude one or more managers. |
User attribute key | Choose which custom user attribute to filter by. |
User attribute value | Select the value(s) of the chosen user attribute to include or exclude. |
Users Thrive status | Filter to users with a specific Thrive status, such as active or new. Set to active and new by default. |
Users Thrive role | Filter to users with a specific Thrive role, such as learner or learner admin. |
Content title | Include or exclude one or more pieces of content by title. |
Content type | Filter by content type, such as article or pathway. |
Content tag | Filter by content tag. |
Activity date | Filter to activity on, before, or after a date. Choose Rolling for a relative date range (such as Last 30 Days), or Fixed for a specific date. Select Include this day to include today in a rolling range. |
Engagement metric | Change the metric used in the User learning behaviour charts, such as Average duration in minutes, Activity duration in minutes, Total activities, or Average activities per user. |
Engagement - view by | Change the attribute the engagement leader board chart is broken down by, such as Audience, User, Manager, Position title, or User attribute value. Set to User by default. |
Once you've set your filters, you can optionally select Save view at the top of the filter panel to save this combination for next time. In the Save view modal, enter a Name and click Save.
Note:
The Make view available to everyone with access to this Liveboard checkbox is currently non-functional. Saved views can't be shared between users.
How Much Engagement Are We Seeing?
The Content engagement overview section gives you a high-level summary of engagement with content across your filtered audience: total Views, Likes, Comments, Shares, and Pins.
How Are Learners Consuming Content?
The User learning behaviour section shows your Total time spent learning and Average time spent learning per user, both in minutes, followed by three charts. How are users consuming their learning? shows the split between web and mobile app.
The leader board chart shows your top values for whichever measure you choose in the Engagement metric filter (e.g., Average duration in minutes) broken down by whichever attribute you choose in Engagement - view by (e.g., User). Change either filter to rank by a different measure (such as Total activities) or a different attribute (such as Manager or Content type) instead; the chart's title updates automatically to match your choice.
How are views trending month on month? shows the trend over time – select the calendar icon, then Time bucket, to switch between daily, weekly, or monthly.
Where Do Learners Find Content, and What's Trending?
How do learners find content? shows total views broken down by source, such as search, notification, or homepage. Views where the source can't be identified are excluded. What are the trending topics? shows your top five content tags by activity across your filtered audience, excluding progressed activities. Use it to spot what's capturing interest and shape events or training around it. Click Explore to to open the chart in its own view, where you can filter, add, replace, or compare columns to adjust the breakdown.
When Is the Platform Most Active?
The Platform activity heatmap shows total activity – views, likes, comments, shares, searches, pins, and completions – by day of the week and hour of day, with darker cells indicating higher activity. Times are shown in UTC.
