Support your learners to evidence their compliance, achieve their goals and demonstrate their progress with our new feature which adds tasks to your learning pathways.
What is this feature?
This feature will allow any admin who can create a pathway to add a task within a section. This will work in a similar way to goals, where you can decide if manager approval and evidence is required to demonstrate a task. From a learners perspective, they will be able to see where a task is required, and they can be prompted to add reflections and evidence where required.
There is no limit to how many tasks can be added to a pathway, and they can be added in any order. This is a great way to encourage your learners to showcase their progress which is kept in their learning history, and demonstrate their learning throughout a pathway. These checks support individuals to reflect and check their learning, but also helps managers to see progress.
Who are tasks in pathways useful for?
This feature will support managers to see there their employees are meeting required goals or compliance requirements, but will also support individuals in reflecting and evidencing their learning. This feature is useful in many scenarios including:
Compliance checks
Where people need to prove they have completed an assessment, certificate or have demonstrated they are safe to complete a job. This can either be to be more robust in their training, or to capture they are safe to complete certain jobs in the company.
A task can be created to ask for this evidence to be provided and until approved they can’t complete the pathway. To see who is compliant/ safe you can view completion of the pathway which shows all required evidence has been provided
This could also be set to be recurring if it’s an annual renewal of certification so the content and tasks have to be done again
Supporting goal setting & skill profiles
To get learners to be proactive in their goal and skills profile a task could be created as part of a leadership programme that gets them to create follow on goals with their manager or trainer based on feedback in face to face workshops. There could also be tasks that ask them to review the skills profile and update this to reflect new skills they have or want to further develop.
Onboarding
As part of any onboarding content a task could be set to speak to certain key people in the team or business. There could also be tasks that set their first goals with their manager or set up their skills profile.
Another more practical use could be for example a shop window designer has to submit their first shop window display for feedback. Or scenario based, where a shop assistant needs to pick out an outfit on the existing range for a customer that has asked for a specific look - this can then be submitted for feedback and approval.
How do you use tasks in pathways?

FAQs
Do tasks need to be approved by a manager?
This will depend on how the task has been set up. It could be a simple acknowledgement from a manager that a task has been completed, or this could be set up to require more evidence which can be helpful with compliance or goal checks. A notification will be sent to the manager when they have a task and / or evidence to review.
If a user doesn’t have a manager assigned within your platform, a task will be automatically approved.
Once a task is approved, either automatically or by a manager, this will be added to an individuals learning history.
As an administrator, how do I manage tasks?
Tasks need to be added to pathways at a relevant time. They cannot be duplicated but can be added to existing pathways. If adding a task to an existing pathway which has historically been completed, the pathway will show as complete but the outstanding task will be shown as incomplete.
Tasks can be part of a recurring assignment to be completed on a regular basis. This can be really helpful with regularly recurring compliance checks which happen on a recurring basis.
If a task is deleted from a pathway, it will no longer appear in an individuals learning history.
How do tasks in pathways work on a mobile device?
Any tasks will show in the same way in a mobile app, and evidence can be uploaded via mobile.
