Previously, when creating a Smart Audience, Super Admins, Learning Admins, and Audience Managers could only create audiences based on ‘user positions’ with specific start or end dates. We have now introduced a new rule called 'Days in Role', which allows you to create a Smart Audience based on the number of days a user has been in a role since their start date.
How is ‘Days in role’ calculated?
The 'Days in Role' rule is calculated based on the start date in the user's profile. It counts the number of days between the start date and the current date.
How do I use this new rule?
You can find this new rule under - User Positions ➡ Days in Role ➡ More than or Less than ➡ Enter the number of days
When to Use the ‘Days in Role’ Rule
This rule allows you to create dynamic audiences that automatically add or remove users based on the duration of time they have been in a role. It is particularly useful for identifying new starters or users who have been with the company for a specific period.
Examples:
New Starters in the Business
Rule: Less than 30 days since start date
How it works: Users will join the audience when they start, and will be removed after 30 days.Users No Longer in Their Induction Period but Still New
Rule: More than 30 days AND less than 180 days
How it works: Users will join the audience after 31 days and be removed after 180 days. (Two rules are required with the '+ Add Rule' option.)Users Who Have Been in the Business for More Than a Year
Rule: More than 365 days in the role
How it works: Users will join the audience after 366 days and remain there indefinitely.New Starters with a Specific Job Title
Rule: Less than 60 days AND Job Title Matches ‘Project Manager’
How it works: Users will join the audience when they start with the job title ‘Project Manager’ and will be removed after 60 days. (Two rules are required with the '+ Add Rule' option.)
Practical Uses for ‘Days in Role’ Audiences
New Starter Block on Homepage: Create a block that appears for new starters on their homepage for a specified number of days and automatically removes itself once the user is no longer part of the audience.
Assign Refresher Training: Assign refresher training 365 days after a user starts. You can target users who have been in the business for a year with different training from those who are newer.
Use with Multi-Assignment: Consider using the multi-assignment feature to allow learners to choose their training content after they have been in the role for a certain period.
This new rule provides greater flexibility in creating Smart Audiences and streamlining user engagement.
