Voice Recognition in Thrive

Prev Next

Thrive supports voice recognition as a way to search the platform hands-free. You can use the microphone icon (🎤) in the Search bar to speak your query — your speech is transcribed directly into the input field, making it quick and easy to find content without typing. Voice input is also available in the AI Assistant window when interacting with Kiki.

Because voice recognition relies on your browser's built-in speech recognition capabilities, whether it works depends on the browser you're using. We recommend Google Chrome (Desktop) for the best experience.

Supported Browsers

  • Chrome (Desktop) — recommended: Fully supported from Chrome 25+. Chrome provides the most reliable voice recognition experience. An active internet connection is required for voice recognition to work.

  • Chrome (Android): Partially supported from Chrome 145+. A short system beep may play when the microphone activates — this is controlled by Android and can't be disabled. Continuous listening may be less reliable than on desktop.

  • Safari (Desktop): Partially supported from Safari 14.1+. Voice recognition works for basic input, though the experience may not be as consistent as Chrome.

  • Safari and iOS browsers: Partially supported from iOS 14.5+. All browsers on iOS — including Chrome, Firefox, and Edge — use Safari's underlying browser engine, so support applies across all of them as long as the device is running iOS 14.5 or later.

Unsupported Browsers

Voice recognition is not supported in the following browsers:

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Firefox

  • Opera (Desktop and Mini)

  • Internet Explorer

If you're using one of these browsers, the microphone icon may not appear, or voice input may not function as expected. Switching to a supported browser should resolve this.

Troubleshooting

If voice recognition isn't working, check the following:

  1. Confirm you're using a supported browser — we recommend Google Chrome (Desktop)

  2. Check that you've granted microphone permissions in your browser settings

  3. Ensure you have an active internet connection
