My file exceeds the max upload limit, how can I upload it?
We took the decision to set a max file size for uploads of 1gb for admins and 300mb for all other users so that the user experience is consistent and smooth across all platforms and devices. This provides a better user experience and focuses on bitesize learning. However, admin users (Super Admins and Learning Admins) will be able to upload files and elearning content of up to 1gb in size.
Reducing the size of your content is advised to improve performance and limit the amount of bandwidth required to view and interact with the content. If you find that your file exceeds the max upload limit, there are a number of ways to reduce the size depending on the type of file you are attempting to upload. The most common files which exceed the limit are videos and SCORM files.
Video compression
There are a number of tools freely available to reduce the size of your video file. Windows has a built in video editor or we also recommend tools such as Handbrake which allows you to compress your video for various uses including web. Youtube Studio is also a useful tool to upload and compress your video content.
SCORM Files
SCORM files can be trickier to reduce in size, especially if they have been provided by a 3rd party supplier. Our platform ethos is bitesize learning so, where possible, we advise to keep your learning packages as short as possible. One option may be to split your elearning module into smaller package files. An alternative may be to reduce the size and quality of any assets contained within the package.
