Content Block Behaviour

Why doesn't the recommended content block show all matching content when I filter by a specific tag?

This is expected behaviour. The recommended content block retrieves up to 12 items on page load that match any of your specified tags. When you filter within the block, you're only filtering those 12 items – the block doesn't fetch additional content.

For example, if the block initially retrieved 12 items tagged "Communication" and you then filter by "Leadership", no results will appear if none of those 12 items have the "Leadership" tag, even though other "Leadership" content exists on your platform.

To see all content matching a specific tag, click View All. This performs a fresh search across all available content.

How often does the "Trending" block update?

The Trending block uses AI-driven recommendations to automatically surface content that is seeing high engagement across the platform in real-time. This ensures the Home page remains dynamic without requiring manual admin updates.

Content Block Personalisation

Why do different users see different Content Blocks on their Home page?

Home page visibility is managed through Audiences. Admins can target specific Content Blocks to different groups, ensuring that learners only see the information most relevant to their specific role or department.

Understanding Content Blocks

What is the difference between a Content Block and a Content Card?

A Content Block is a layout container (like a row or a slider) that dictates how information is organised on the page, whereas a Content Card is the individual unit of learning or information that sits inside those blocks.

Content Cards

What about content with restricted permissions?

When adding a link to content with restricted access, the content author will see a warning advising them to check that all users have access to the content.

What will the learner see if they don't have access to the target content?

They'll see a placeholder card with "You don't have permission to view this content".

What types of content can I link to?

You can link to any content type on your Thrive platform. When adding a content link, the user will be shown only results for content that they have access to - not all platform content.

Can I link to multiple pieces of content in one post?

Absolutely. Each link renders as its own content card block, letting you link to several pieces of supporting content in a single post.

Will learners leave my content if they click the embedded card?

Yes, clicking a content card will take learners to the linked content in a new tab. This ensures they don’t lose their place in the original piece.

Will this break if the linked content is deleted?

If the original content is archived or deleted, the embedded card will no longer work and will display a permission error placeholder advising that they don't have access to the linked content. It’s best practice to ensure linked content remains active as long as it’s referenced.
