This article covers how to assign content, set completion windows, and track learner progress. By assigning content to a specific audience, you can ensure that the right learners receive the relevant materials they need to succeed.
Note:
You must be an admin or an audience manager with assignment permission to assign content to an audience.
From the Thrive menu, go to Manage > Structures & Audiences.
Select the audience you want to assign content to.
Click the Assignments tab.
Here, you’ll see a list of any content that has already been assigned. To add a new assignment, click Add Assignment.
In the pop-up window, in Assignments, search for and select the content you want to assign.

Set the completion window by using the slider to determine how long learners have to complete the content. You can set a window from one day to three years.
Example:
If you set it to two weeks and a new user joins that audience tomorrow, they will have two weeks from their join date to complete the content.
(Optional) Set the Recurrence. This will automatically reassign the content and reset the learner’s progress.
Example:
In the image below, content will expire and be reassigned every year:

Tracking Progress

The total number of users assigned to the content.
How many users are Complete, Incomplete, or Overdue.

Unassigning Content and Managing Notifications
Removing content from an Audience’s Assignments tab or removing a user from an Audience triggers an automatic Essential Learning Removed notification. This occurs even if the user has already completed the learning.
To prevent these emails during a large-scale clean-up, follow these steps::
Go to Configure > Notifications.
On the User Default Settings table, switch the Assignments toggles off and click Save changes.
Note:
You may need to wait 1–2 minutes to allow the platform to sync the new notification settings.
Go to Manage > Structures & Audiences and remove the content from the relevant Audience(s).
Once finished, return to Configure > Notifications to re-enable the toggles.
This toggle affects all users globally. To avoid missing other important alerts, complete your updates during quiet periods and remember to re-enable the toggle immediately afterward.
FAQs
What happens to the due dates when I edit the recurrence period of an existing assignment?
When the recurrence period is edited, the next due date is immediately recalculated for the entire audience based on each user’s last completion date.
If a user's last completion date falls within the newly defined window, the assignment remains in the Complete status.
If the last completion date falls outside the new window, the assignment status changes to open and requires completion again.
