Hub Tab

Prev Next

The Hub tab helps Super Admins understand how learners are adopting Hub, Thrive’s personalised homepage for bringing together widgets, tools and content. Use it to demonstrate adoption, understand which widgets learners choose and identify where additional communication or support could help learners get started.

To access this tab, go to Insights > Admin Dashboard and select Hub.

Note:

This page only displays data when Hub is enabled for your organisation.

Filters

Use the filters at the top of the tab to focus on the learners you want to review.

Filter

Description

Thrive Status

Filter learners by their Thrive account status. The default view includes active and new learners.

Structure and Audience

Focus the report on learners within selected structures and audiences.

Position Title

Review Hub adoption for learners with particular position titles.

User Attribute Key

Select the custom user attribute you want to filter by.

User Attribute Value

Select the corresponding attribute value to narrow the report.

View by Structure and Audience

Changes how the Hub access comparison chart groups your data. Use this to change the attribute being compared, rather than to filter which learners are included.

Are Learners Accessing the Hub?

The summary section shows three stages of adoption: accessing Hub, having widgets, and having active widgets.

Metric

What it Shows

How many users have accessed the Hub?

The percentage of learners in your filtered view who have accessed Hub.

Of the users who have accessed the Hub, how many have widgets?

The percentage of Hub users who have at least one widget, excluding the always-on Thrive widget.

Of the users who have widgets, how many have active widgets?

Of those Hub users with widgets, the percentage who have at least one active widget, excluding the always-on Thrive widget.

The counts beneath each percentage show the number of learners meeting that condition and the total used for comparison.

Read these metrics together to identify where learners may need support. For example, learners may have accessed Hub but not added any widgets, or they may have widgets that still need connecting.

Note:

These percentages use different comparison groups. The always-on Thrive widget is excluded from both widget-related summary calculations, so its presence alone does not count towards widget adoption or activation.

When Are Widgets Being Added?

The Are widgets regularly being added? chart shows widget additions across the previous 12 months and the current month to date. It also includes a comparison with the previous month.

Use this chart to understand when learners are adding widgets and to review patterns around Hub launches, communications or enablement activity.

Remember that the current month is still in progress. A lower month-to-date total does not necessarily indicate a decline in adoption.

Note:

Deleted widgets cannot currently be reported. If a widget is added, deleted and then added again, its creation date reflects the latest addition. Historical values in this chart can therefore change retrospectively. It is not a complete history of widget additions and removals.

Where Is Hub Adoption Strongest?

The % Users accessed Hub by Structure and audience chart compares the percentage of learners who have accessed Hub across different groups.

Use the View by selector at the top of the tab to change the attribute used to group the chart.

This helps you identify where Hub adoption is strongest and where further communication may be useful. For example, a lower access rate in a particular audience could prompt a targeted introduction to Hub or a reminder about how to get started.

Which Widgets Have Learners Added?

The widget summary shows the number of widgets included in your filtered view.

Metric

What it Shows

Total widgets

A unique count of all widgets, including custom and non-custom widgets.

Total non-custom widgets

A unique count of Thrive-curated widgets.

Total custom widgets

A unique count of custom widgets.

These metrics count individual widgets, not the number of available widget types.

The Total widgets split by grouping and type chart breaks these totals down by widget type. Non-custom, Thrive-curated widgets are shown in green, while custom widgets are shown in grey. Hover over a widget type to view supporting information, including the number of learners with that type.

Use this to understand which types of widgets learners are adding most often and inform which widgets you promote or provide guidance for.

Viewing the Detailed Widget Breakdown

The All widget breakdown table brings together widget type, status, provider and grouping, alongside:

Measure

What it shows

Total widgets

The number of widgets within that row’s combination of type, status, provider and grouping.

Total users with widgets

The number of learners with widgets in that row.

Average widgets per user with widgets

The average number of widgets among the learners represented in that row – not across all learners.

Provider information is shown for non-custom, Thrive-curated widgets only.

Which Widgets Need Connecting?

The Active and inactive widgets split by type and provider chart shows the proportion of active and inactive widgets for each widget type and provider.

An inactive widget is a non-custom, Thrive-curated widget that has been added but is not currently connected to an account. For example, a learner may have an email or calendar widget but still need to sign in to the relevant service.

Use this chart to identify widget types or providers where learners may need help completing the connection.

Note:

Inactive status only applies to non-custom widgets. It describes the widget’s connection state, not whether the learner has recently used it. An active widget should not be interpreted as a measure of click frequency or ongoing engagement.

Which Learners May Need Help Getting Started?

The Next steps: How can I engage users? section provides learner-level tables to help you turn the summary findings into targeted action.

Who Has Not Yet Accessed the Hub?

This table lists learners who have not accessed Hub, with their user reference and manager.

Use it to identify learners who may benefit from an introduction to Hub or a reminder to explore the available widgets. Select Explore to add further available columns, such as position title, when investigating a particular group.

Widgets by User and Status

This table shows the widgets associated with individual learners. It includes the learner and manager, widget type and provider, status, size, creation date, position and whether the widget can be deleted.

Use it to investigate inactive widgets and understand which account connections a learner may need help completing. The arrows beside the column headings allow you to sort the data.

Note:

Use the summary charts to identify an adoption or activation gap, then use these tables to find the learners who may benefit from support.

How Can I Use This Report in Practice?

Use case

How to use the Report

Provide an adoption update

Use the Hub access and widget summary metrics to give stakeholders a view of how learners are getting started. Review the widget additions trend alongside these figures, keeping its historical reporting limitations in mind.

Target communications and support

Compare Hub access across audiences, then review learners who have not accessed Hub or have inactive widgets. Tailor your communication to the step they need to complete.

Inform your Hub approach

Review the widget type and provider breakdowns to understand which options learners choose and where additional guidance could help them connect their tools.

These uses support the feature’s aim of making Hub adoption visible and helping teams decide where to focus their engagement efforts.

Important Notes

Learner coverage: Only learners are included. Hard-deleted accounts are excluded, and the default view includes active and new learners.

Widgets can exist before a learner accesses Hub: For example, a calendar connection may already exist because the learner connected it for an event or mentoring session. Having a widget does not, by itself, confirm that the learner has accessed Hub.

Learner-level information is included: Unlike anonymised search or AI conversation reporting, the Hub tab includes named learner tables to support targeted follow-up.
