Mentorship Programme

The Mentorship Programme block enables administrators to add a structured mentoring programme to a Space. Once configured and published, users can join the programme, get matched with a mentor or mentee based on defined rules, and schedule sessions.

Creating a Mentorship Programme

Adding the Block

The Mentorship Programme block is available when creating or editing a Space. To add it:

  1. In the Space management screen, click the Page builder tab.

  2. Under Add a block (or Add your first block if the Space doesn’t contain any blocks yet), click Mentorship Programme.
Options to add various content blocks including a highlighted Mentorship Programme.

    Note:

Only one Mentorship Programme block can be added per Space.

Configuring the Block

The block is made up of four configuration sections outlined below:

Section

Description

Details

Use the Programme type dropdown to select the type of programme.

Note:

Mentoring is currently the only available option. Coaching and Sponsorship are coming soon.

Relationship Limits

Set the maximum number of simultaneous relationships each participant can have:

  • Max Mentees per Mentor: The maximum number of mentees a single mentor can support at one time. Set to 0 for unlimited.

  • Max Mentors per Mentee: The maximum number of mentors a single mentee can work with at one time. Set to 0 for unlimited.

Relationship limits help manage capacity across the programme. When a user concludes a relationship, their slot is freed up, allowing them to match with someone new if they have reached their limit.

Skills

Add the skills available for this programme. Skills are sourced from your organisation's tags and define what mentors can offer and what mentees are looking to develop.

Use the search bar to find and add individual skills, or click Select all to include all available skills. To remove all selected skills, click Clear All.

Matching Rules

Define how mentors and mentees are paired. You can add multiple rules to refine the matching algorithm. Each rule has an Importance setting – Low, Medium, or High – which determines how heavily that rule influences the results relative to others.

Click + Add Rule to add a rule. Three rule types are available:

  • Skills: Prioritise matches where both participants share the same skills. You can apply the rule to any skill in the programme or search to add specific skills. Use the Importance setting to weight this rule relative to others.

  • Goals: Prioritise matches where one participant's experience fits the other's goals. In Thrive, goals are linked to skills. When this rule is active, the skills tied to a mentee's goals are matched against skills the mentor has a higher proficiency in – meaning an exact skill overlap isn't required. Mentors with stronger proficiency in the mentee's goal-related skills will still appear as strong matches.

  • Field: Prioritise matches based on a shared profile field. Select a field from the dropdown – such as Job Title, Timezone, or Job Role – to prioritise participants who share the same value for that field. You can add multiple field rules to refine matching further. Both standard and custom organisation-defined fields are supported.

Note:

Each rule includes a tooltip explaining the prioritisation logic in plain language.

Publishing the Block

When you have finished configuring the block, scroll to the top of the screen:

  1. Click Publish to make the programme available to users, or Save draft to save your progress without publishing.

  2. Click Publish changes to apply your updates, or View to preview the Space as users will see it.

Once published, users will see the Mentorship Programme block in the Space and be prompted to choose their role.

Options to join a mentorship program as mentor, mentee, or both are displayed.
