THRIVE Search - FAQs

Search results are ranked based on keyword matches within the title, summary, and tags. The ranking is also slightly influenced by user interactions, such as completions, likes, and dismissals, particularly from individuals reporting to the same line manager.

Search rankings prioritise content based on the following order:

  1. Title

  2. Summary/Body

  3. Tags

  4. Other

Yes. Searching for part of a word will return results containing that fragment. For example, searching for ‘proj’ will return results including ‘project management’ and any other content containing ‘proj’ in the title, summary, or tags.

When searching for a phrase, Thrive prioritises content where the words appear together in sequence. If no exact match is found, it will return results that contain any of the words individually.

Using quote marks can refine your search results when searching for a single word by ensuring an exact match. For example, searching for "Leader" will return only content that explicitly includes ‘Leader’ in the title, summary, or tags.

However, using quotes for multiple words does not currently limit results in the same way. Thrive uses five different methods to check for phrase matches:

  1. Regexp for phrase against title: Exact match of all words in order within the title.

  2. Regexp for phrase against description: Exact match of all words in order within the summary/description.

  3. Match for phrase against title: Matches any of the words in the title (using OR logic).

  4. Match_phrase for phrase against description: Exact match of all words in order within the summary/description.

  5. Match_phrase for phrase against tags: Exact match of all words in order within the tags.

  • Single-word searches return a broad range of results, as they match content titles, descriptions, and tags. The more occurrences found, the higher the ranking.

  • Two-word searches return fewer results, as both words must appear together in a title, description, or tag to meet four of the search criteria.

  • Search phrases of three or more words can actually expand results again, as Thrive will search for individual words across all content titles, increasing the likelihood of matches.

There is no limit on level 1 and level 2. The content on level 3 is ordered by most recent first, with 50 items per page. For collections with more than 50 items, users can navigate between pages to explore all content on level 3 using pagination.
